Great question. Yes and no. The minor third–E-flat on the piano when you’re playing a piano blues in C–is a good start, but if you watch blues (or rock) guitar players play the note, they always smear the minor third up a few cents, so the pitch is more like the quarter tone between minor third and major third. There’s also a blue third that is slightly BELOW the minor third; Dickie Betts and Duane Allman use that note on LIVE AT THE FILLMORE…..

Well, I’m doing all three of those things. I’m using 2-5 and 6-3 in the “bridge” riff (sax); I’m blocking left side–or at least I demo this–on the repeated 2 draw riff.
