What college should I attend to get my bachelors in Web Development/Design?

Posted by admin on July 15th, 2010 and filed under web development | 2 Comments »

I have looked at some schools that offer bachelor degrees in Web Development and some are: Franklin University, DeVry University, University of Phoenix, Westwood College. What is the best school to get a degree for web design? I know I dont have to get a degree in order to learn web design, but getting a bachelor’s degree is something I want and the curriculum at those schools I listed for web development are good! Let me know :)

Are you looking to just go online? Because if you are then look into schools like the University of california or penn state or even the university of florida. they offer many of their degrees online through distance learning. DeVry isnt as bad as people say it is and it has a good web program but it actually moves too quickly for you to actually really learn anything. Stay away from the university of phoenix because none of their teachers are qualified to teach students, they are all just recent college graduates. DeVry at least has people working who have worked in the particular field of study. However, clearly they didnt make it very far. And you know as the saying goes, those you can, do and those who cant, teach. If you ever have a question you would have to email the teacher and trust me, they never respond. You can actually learn more on your own just googling how to design than attending any of the schools you listed. Mostly because if you attend any of those schools that’s all you’re going to do anyway.

What is the best way to learn Web Development?

Posted by admin on July 6th, 2010 and filed under web development | 3 Comments »

Is it better to go to a college or institute, or from books and programs? And what are good sites, software, programs, and books that help with learning and excelling in web development?

For the sake of hobby programming or small projects, you could easily learn it by your self by finding and reading some good books on the subject in addition to do exercises and/or follow learning programs on the net.

However, if you’re considering serious web development and programming as a profession, college or some other academical institute is the preferred way, as they would most likely offer further insight and knowledge in and about programming practices, concepts and mechanisms "behind the curtains" than you might obtain by yourself.

Does advanced web development involve a lot of math and logic?

Posted by admin on June 30th, 2010 and filed under web development | 1 Comment »

I’m considering studying to become a web developer, but I’m not good with math and logic. Should I be fine in web development or is there another good IT career you would recommend?

You probably don’t need math in web development as much as other programming disciplines, however, you will still need logic for any type of programming, Not only will you have to understand logic from a computer’s perspective, you will have to use logic in order to create applications that are well-designed, extensible, and easily maintained.
