Are free registry cleaners any good?
I’m old school and was taught that there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Last fall I’ve downloaded Error Smart then Reg Cure, I thought they were free. I’ve since uninstalled them. They did find a lot of errors in my comp though. Then there’s System Mechanics Professional and I heard some good things about it. Please which are the best registry cleaners that I can purchase at a comp store or online, if such a thing exists.
Registry cleaners, free or not free can do more harm then good.
Now if you want something better then windows disk cleanup, either ccleaner or ATF cleaner are safe and free to use.

Free programs are usually free because the authors are more interested in writing a good program than in earning a few extra dollars and being a slave to the program. (Almost all freeware authors have real jobs – many of them dealing with writing software.) Are the programs good? Some are great, some are so-so and some are pretty bad.

The problem I have had with the freebies;is they run through and show all the errors, but when all the errors are completed. Only part of them are corrected.
I have Pitstop Optimize 2 that works well. I buy it with the CA Security Center, of which I have also had good luck with. Hope this helps.

Great question Victor. While there are a lot of great freeware programs available, there’s also a reason for the old adage of there’s no such thing as a free lunch. I use and recommend Registryfix. Only took about 10 minutes to scan my computer. Best of luck.
