Does all legitimate wholesale company always ask for my sales tax id if I’m willing to buy products at wholesale price from them?
Some do, some don’t. There are many people with a business on the side who don’t want to bother with filing the sales reports the state requires when you register for a sales tax number. They just pay tax on the wholesale price. Also many people buy merchandise at wholesale for their personal use and pay tax on it. That’s why many wholesalers ask if they should charge you tax. If you don’t want to pay sales tax it’s up to you to show the wholesaler your tax certificate.
