The vast majority of Outdoor Companies use a vendor-representaive system. This is is how it works in the US. Chances are it’s the same in the UK.
If you are planning to sell the goods at retail cost, you will need to set up an account through the vendor-rep in your area. Most of the companies will send you gear on credit and you will have 90 days to pay the bill.
I would contact the companies you wish to deal with directly and ask their dealer services people who the reps for your area are and then go from there.
If you are just looking to buy supplies at wholesale cost and not planning to sell them retail, then you might run into some more roadblocks. The reps can help with things like skis, tents, sleeping bags, etc…hard goods. Many of these things are available as a demo or rental model from the manufacturer. Things like clothing are harder to get at wholesale. Your best course of action is to still call the manufacturer and ask them for the rep that serves your area.
Most reps work for more than one manufacturer, so once you make contact with one of them, they may have info about a lot of different companies. Also, some brands are owned by larger companies so if you can get a deal through one of them…you might do well with the others under the same umbrella. (eg. Cascade Designs owns the brands MSR, OR, Therm-a-Rest, and SealLine. K2 owns K2 Skis, Marmot, and Dana Designs packs.)
Additionally, if you are an outdoor professional (guide, tour leader, climbing instructor, outdoor educator, etc.) You may qualify for an industry discount and buy gear at slightly above wholesale cost. These are commonly called "Pro Deals". I have a Pro Deal set up with Garmont Boots, Prana clothing, Smartwool socks, and Keen footwear. I set these up for myself and staff members so we can make purchases for our jobs. Setting one up usually involves nothing more than sending an email to the company requesting an application for a Pro Deal. Most are on a webpage buried in the main website and you just fill out the online form. Some are actual hard copy pages they send you. It varies. With Smartwool and Keen, I can order right on the computer, with Garmont and Prana, I have to fax in an order form.

See my bio. I also spent yesterday at an Outdoor Gear trade show looking into setting up accounts.
